The End Goal
Developing the ISS Madeira Learner
By prioritising Wellbeing, we guide students to grow into responsible and empathetic individuals who value their role in society. Our approach encourages academic excellence while fostering a strong sense of social responsibility, global awareness, and active contribution to the community.

Growth & Tomorrow
Prioritising Our Students’ Wellbeing
At International Sharing School – Madeira, we are dedicated to the holistic growth of every student, recognising that wellbeing underpins both personal and academic success.
Our approach nurtures emotional, social, and physical wellbeing, empowering students to flourish across all areas of life. By supporting the whole child, we prepare them to face challenges confidently, build meaningful relationships, and pursue a fulfilling and successful future.

“Between students, families and staff, we nurture mental health and wellness through early support, open conversations and a strong sense of community.”
At our school, the Wellbeing department is committed to nurturing a supportive and inclusive environment where all and each student feels happy, valued, and capable. Inspired by the principles of the IB system, we recognize and celebrate the unique strengths and challenges of each child.
Our primary goal is to make sure that all students feel they have the right tools and strategies to grow into their best selves. We work closely with teachers, families and specialists to create a caring network around the child, fostering a sense of belonging and a love for learning in every step of their journey.

Supporting Students in Challenging Situations
Our pastoral programme at ISS Madeira promotes holistic development through an inquiry-based approach and Positive Psychology using the PERMAH framework (Positive Emotion, Engagement, Relationships, Meaning, Accomplishment, and Health).
Students learn essential life skills such as self-advocacy, resilience, respect, consent, and integrity.
These skills develop independence, confidence, and a strong sense of responsibility, equipping students to grow into compassionate, capable, and thoughtful adults.
