Job Description

International Sharing School Madeira is seeking an enthusiastic and qualified Librarian to support students and teachers across the IB PYP, IB MYP, and IB DP programmes.

The successful candidate will manage the school library using the Destiny Library Management System, promote a love of reading, teach research and referencing skills, and collaborate with teachers to support inquiry-based learning.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop the school library collection and services using Destiny.
  • Support PYP Units of Inquiry and MYP interdisciplinary and subject-specific units.
  • Teach information literacy, research, and referencing skills across all grade levels.
  • Support students undertaking the PYP Exhibition, MYP Personal Project, and DP Extended Essay.
  • Promote reading, literature, and a positive library culture.
  • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Degree in Library and Information Science, Education, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification or librarian certification preferred.
  • Experience working in a school library.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Strong digital literacy and familiarity with library management systems.
  • Experience with the IB programmes and/or inquiry-based learning is an advantage.
